Laptop Updates
Posted on 14 December 2011 | 1 response
There’s nothing much to undate. My laptop is still dead but I have scheduled an appointment with an old highschool friend of mine to take a look at the laptop. I bribed him with food
. But this weekend I will meet up with him and he’ll take a look at it, if he can fix it, I’ll keep using it, if not, I guess it means it’s time for [another] new laptop! I guess we’ll find out this weekend when I meet up with him! Maybe I can steal my sister in law or my younger brother’s laptop to blog for the mean time, but without my laptop I won’t be able to post anything that I’ve got to share. Oh and I hope that if he can fix it, I hope that all my files and programs can be recovered! If not, I’ll be very sad!!!
For the mean time, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday! I am almost done with all my Christmas shopping!
My Laptop Crashed
Posted on 9 December 2011 | No responses
Hey guys! I am so sorry about my bad lack of posting this month! For the past couple weeks I have been busy with papers and exams but recently about 3 weeks ago my laptop had been acting up and before I know it my laptop had crashed on me! So I am unsure when I can get the laptop fixed or if not buy a new one but I will be up and running soon. But this also means I’ve lost a lot of my files, photos, music, tutorials and all that goid stuff so this also means when i am back up and running I will have to start new again! I had so much to share too but if i cannot recover all my files on my laptop I will have to start all over again

Maiv Lis Thoj and Tshaj Meej Yaj– Xav Kom

This has to be one of the best classic remake turned into duet I’ve ever heard!! Maiv Lis Thoj and Tshaj Meej Yaj remade a very good classic by Luj Yaj into a beautiful duet that just blew me away at how amazing this song was! I’ve always loved the original song by Luj Yaj, Hmong’s legendary early 90′s singer from Laos and with this duet by Maiv Lis Thoj and Tshaj Meej, I just feel in love with this song all over again!!
So at the Georgia Hmong New Year (the little pictures that I’ve taken will be posted up shortly), this song was on replay blast off to attract people to their booth and believe me, they sure did got my attention. I stood in front of the booth for the entire song and like I’ve said, I feel in love with this song all over again!
Maiv Lis Thoj and Tshaj Meej Yaj has such a beautiful VOCAL chemistry, their voices are so beautiful together! they are just simply amazing! I absolutely love Tshaj Meej’s voice, he’s one of my mom’s favorite Hmong Nplooj singer and so is he mine. Although my mom and I have not been keeping up with his latest music, he’s won my heart all over again after this duet!
So much childhood memories in just one simple song!! such a beautiful remake of a wonderful classic!!!!
The music video was another story! Sadly the MV, their chemistry wasn’t entirely all there. So…
First song is Luj Yaj’s version, back in the early 90′s. Second is the duet remake… Youtube link is the music video to the remake.
ENJOY!

These two hands will keep you closely (I cannot find the right translation!)

Mama and I

I just had to share photos of my mother and I! Not many girls get to know their mother, not many girls get the opportunity to spend time growing up with their mother and for those who does have the chance like myself, love and cherish her, because no matter what, she’ll be the only woman who’ll love you through think and thin, no matter how many fights you two get into, no matter how many times you hurt her, at the end, she loves you unconditionally!

The outfit I am wearing, is the outfit from the tutorial I had made and posted up
BTW… I had cut my hair back in July and I truly miss my long hair, I cannot do much with this short hair of mine.
it needs to hurry and grow back out so I can better style my hair!!!
How To Sew A Hmong Sev
Posted on 11 November 2011 | 2 responses
I am finallly done making my sev (Shay) tutorial! Sorry for the delay!
For your sev (shay) you should use the same fabric and colors as your shirt. The sev is the simplest part of making an outfit with just a few steps.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, you may comment or email me and I will answer to the best of my ability.

And FINALLY the wait is finally here!!!! After a few uploading tries I was finally able to get youtube to upload this HUGE file! I use a JVC HD camcorder to recorder this tutorial and with that being said, the file is super huge. Next time I am going to compress it before uploading so uploading time would be shorter and less problem!
DISCLAIMER…. The way I made this shirt may not/is not the same way your mothers, grandmothers, aunties and etc makes theirs. I made it the way simple way.
As a beginner I recommend hand sewing but if you are good with a sewing machine, be my guest. no real pattern is needed except knowing your own measurement. To measure yourself, pull the folded/crease from one shoulder to another and just have about 1.5 inches extra on each side so to say about 3 inches extra total…
If you have any questions just ask! I will do my best to answer… I am still new at sewing my own Hmong shirt so it may not be the best!
Credit:: Music in the video is by The Sounders…. BTW… I just used the extra fabric I have left from making my curtain to make the shirt.
The Shay tutorial will be posted shortly when I get it edited and upload!
The Hat tutorial is completed, just need to be edit and upload!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Hmong Shirt Tutorial Update

Okay… Just an update! the tutorial has been edited and completed.
Problem, I have been trying to get it uploaded but somehow youtube is just not uploading it. SO…. I will try to upload it again when I get off class today. This totally sucks! I should had completed this tutorial about a week ago but I am just having issue left and right. I stayed up super late the other day just editing the video with a new program I am currently using. I let it upload to youtube through that particular program over night and it didn’t upload so I tried it again uploading straight from youtube but again, youtube just wouldn’t upload so I will give it another attempt, I hope this time it works. I am thinking about compressing the file, upload it as a lower quality rather than the HD quality. My video recorder shoots in HD thus everything is done in HD but I will try to compress and reupload. Let’s hope it works!!!
I know many of you guys are waiting for this tutorial but youtube is just not being nice to me
Next tutorial will be
-daim shay… recording has been completed, just need to edit it
-Hmong hat, the one I made for my blogger Friend Nye’s daughter last year as many of you have been requesting for this one
-Hmong hat, the round ones
IF there is any other tutorial you want me to make, please let me know and I will find time to make them. Right now I do have a paper and a presentation due also a few Math lessons I need to catch up on so it may take me a bit longer but I am slowly working on it. Sory for such delay!
Good News and Bad News
Posted on 2 November 2011 | 4 responses
Okay I have both good news and bad news.
It makes more sense in this case if I say the good news first and then end it with the bad news. A lot of time it makes more since giving the bad news first but in this case, good news will have to come first.
Good News:::: I’ve completed RECORDING my tutorial on how to sew a Hmong shirt and apron… Whew! It took 3 long brutal hours doing it late at night to complete it and the apron only took about an hour, very simple!
Bad News::::: My computer wont allow me to edit the files, and I have to get it to edit. somehow my movie maker program is very weird, when I cut or edit it takes the vocals back to the beginning but the cutting is still the same…
Decent News:::: I will try to re-edit again, take off the vocals and just have to do it the rough way!
Hopefully I can put up the tutorial soon!
A Gift of Hmong Clothes

My good friend Karen from Fresno CA had shipped me this wonderful Hmong outfit! She had handmade the entire outfit and sent it to me (after bugging her for a while)… She did such an amazing job with this outfit and I just absolutely love it! She also included a matching hat to go along with it too! I don’t match the type of hat she made but I will attempt to wear it, if all else feel I can wear the hat that I have. Glad I have a hand for sewing, the hat she sent be was a bit big so I had to resize it, which was a good thing, having it a bit bigger is always better than it being too small. It’s always easier to fix from big to small rather from small to big! I cannot wait until I am able to wear this for the new year!
BTW… the tutorial should be up shortly. I am currently working on it and should finish soon. I am just about done with the tutorial on the shirt, I will post it up as soon as it is done taping and editing. It’s so much easier now that I am getting the hang of it! Mine didn’t turn out as good as Karen’s but it’s still wearable. Karen’s style is more of the traditional way whereas mine is more of the easier way out. But I hope to get the tutorial out before the end of the week.
Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!
It’s Fall Inside the OFFICE! Seriously!
Posted on 29 October 2011 | 2 responses
Literally! Since it’s fall my work place had a little competition/contest going on in the office. Any participating members on each row decorate their row and best team wins $100. Theme was Fall Harvest. I thought my group did a wonderful job although we did not place anything. Our VP said our’s was very nice and classy, sounds great, sadly we did not place at all. The haunted house team won, how is that fall harvest? LOL But either way, we still have a great time. We had lots of fun working on the decor and it was work time too.
Like my “Do Not Step On The Red Carpet” sign? LOL I had to put up the sign so that no one would step on our tablecloth red carpet
. I took it off the day of the judging so that our judges can walk on it. lol
