Meena Thao Album Review

I have this album since early July and I have been meaning to do a review on this album but with my busy situation I have not have the chance to compile the songs together to work on a review so now that I am back from being extra busy I decided that it’ll be best to start with reviewing this album so I won’t have another excuse to not review this album.
I honestly love Meena Thao’s voice, she has this very nice and soothing voice, very peaceful and beautiful. I do notice that a few of her songs she did used auto tune and I think she really should lay off the auto tune, her voice is so beautiful that auto really kills her beautiful voice. The choice of music Meena picked worked well with her very high pitch voice and her lyrics are not too bad. I think there’s much room to work on her lyrics but for the time being her lyrics are good. I have to say her best song will have to be “Niam Nkuaj Txhav Qaib Lub Kua Muag” which translate to “the tears of Niam Nkauj Txhav Qaib”. Niam Nkauj Txhav Qaib can somewhat be translated into the American “Eve” of Adam and Eve. (I’ll explain it fully when I do the translation of this song, I promise!!). I like the fact that Meena targets her audience in a very different way, her choice of music really targets the mainstream Hmong American with a touch of “FOB-ness”, it’s kind of hard to explain.

I also bought this album and enjoy her voice. I do have to agree with you on the auto tune thing. My favorite is “Rov Ua Npau Suav Pom Koj”.
I like her first song best, she has a very sweet voice.

It shall be on my next to song translation list, luckly at the moment I don’t have any songs on the list so I’ll work on it hopefully today before my class starts!
