Song Translation::: Leeg Nyob sab ntuj

Posted on 18 November 2010

Yesterday I had received an email requesting for the song translation Leeg Nyob Sab Ntuj by The Sounders from their latest album entitled “Kuv Hlub  Koj” that was released last Thanksgiving. This was one of the most talked about album when it was released last year, I too was one of the crazy fan who had to have an album. But unlike others, I supported them twice with this album. My friend sent me this album in November and by April or March my brother “accidently” sat on the cd and as a huge fan I had to have the original so when I went to MN’s July 4th freedom tournament I purchased another copy, this time I had the guys signed the album for me (and Hlee). So now I have two music video CD and one album, oh yes and two covers.

This is one beautiful song from The Sounders. The meaning is very emotional and deep. I know the deep  meaning may have been lost through translation but I did try to translate this song as best as I can. A lot of time Hmong meanings may sound very confusing or “weird” once translated into English or the meaning/saying/words my not sound as nice in English but in Hmong it’s very deep and beautiful.

I had the chance to meet these guys, they are very friendly and nice also I was able to attend their concert in Minneapolis St. Paul, believe me, they are wonderful entertainers! This had been one of the best concert I had ever gone to, yes it even beat out the few American concerts I had been to. I just loved how they sang all their hits from every album starting from their very first album to their very latest album. When I listen to their music I feel like instead of just giving us 100% they gave us 110% of their all and than some more! They really put their passion into making these albums and writing beautiful and powerful lyrics.

Enough talks about them, here goes the song… Enjoy!!!

The Sounders--Leeg Nyob Sab Ntuj

:

Artist: The Sounders
Song: Leeg Nyob Sab  Ntuj
Album: Kuv Hlub Koj
Released: Thanksgiving 2009

Kev hlub nyob sab ntuj, kev nco leeg nyob ib qhov … mus los tsis txog
Long distances relationship, to miss each other when were so far, so far I cannot go to
Cas lub ntuj siab dub, faib koj kuv leeg nyob rooj ntuj
why is the heavens so cruel and separate us so far apart
Es kuv nco nco txog koj, lub siab quaj dhi
I am missing you, my heart is aching

Los nag los nco koj, tshav ntuj los nco koj … Ooooo
when it rains i miss you, when it shines i miss you… ooooo
Cas xov quaj xov nroos, cov me nag nws twb txawj tu
why does the lightning screams and cries, the rains knows how to stop
Kuv nco koj kua muag los, nws tsis txawj tu
I miss you and my tears falls endlessly

[Chorus]

Kheev lam txia tau yog lub xov tooj
If i can changed into a telephone
Ntse yuav nrog nraim ntawm koj lub plhu
then I will stand by your cheeks
Xav nrog koj hais luag ntxhi tsis xav tsum
I want to quietly talk to you, i do not want to stop

Kheev lam txia tau yog txoj saw kub
If I can change to a gold necklace
Ntse yuav nyob nraim ntawm koj lub xubntiag
then I will be by your bosom
Xav rov qab mloog koj lub plawv dhia
I want to hear your heart beat again

Xyo koj puas nco kuv, xyo koj puas tshua kuv ib yam thaum ub
I wonder do you miss me, I wonder do you care for me like before
Kuv nco koj kawg kiag, kuv lub siab ua vog ua viag
I really miss you, my heart is unyielding
Cug lub ntiaj teb yuav ntxeev, tsis muaj twg ntxheem
as if the world is about to flip with no one holding it

[Music Break]

Xyo koj puas nco kuv, xyo koj puas tshua kuv … Ooooo
I wonder do you miss me, I wonder do you care for me… oooo

this is a really jazzy song. a perfect song to play at the late wee hours of the night when everyone’s asleep and you’re up trying to go back to sleep, counting the dots on the ceiling, the bumps in the distance, and the quietness of it all, as trains of random thoughts rush through your head like a freight train passing through town on a hot summer afternoon. well, to me, that’s how it feels like.

my brother and his wife also attended that concert as well and told me about it, how the crowd and fans who attended this concert yog cov laus me ntsis, paub tab me ntsis. cov tsis khib dwb. they enjoyed it entirely and knowing how much i loved sounders, wished that i would have joined them.

well, glad you had a great time.
