Tsis Qhia Siab, Cua Yaj

I sure do miss the good old days, life was once so good and sweet with us being much younger, me running round being such a booger playing house with my sisters and being carefree and stress-free. Life was sweet at the time, the early 90’s. There was no worries at all, we were young and childish, we didn’t know what it means to have bills and more bills. Hummm I can totally reminisce all day long about those good old days.
So with that being said….
I just wanted to share one of my many favorite Hmong classics called “Tsis Qhia Siab” (untold feelings) by Cua Yaj. This song came out in the early 90’s with the release of the Movie “Kev Hlub Nyob Qhov Twg” (Where is Love) again one of my favorite Hmong movies (of the time). This song pretty much sum up the whole movie (sort off).
Here is the beginning of the movie “Kev Hlub Nyob Qhov Twg”. There is a total of 3 parts. A quick summary of the movie:: Nkauj Hli’s mother eloped with her when her father married a second wife because Nkuaj Hli was not the son her father wanted. She took Nkauj Hli to stay in an old log cabin in the mountains away from society. Nkauj Hli was born as a mute child with only her mother as her friend. When Nkuaj Hli grew up, she met Chu Yee (sorry can’t spell it in Hmong. LOL) while he went hunting, he then started to visit their camp site often and feel in love with each other. Nkauj Hli’s mother passed away and when she did, Nkauj Hli’s mother told Nkauj Hli to find a pearl at the lake inside a waterlily, once Nkauj Hli eats that pearl she’ll get her voice so Nkauj Hli waited 3 days and the pearl finally appear. Chu Yee decided to take Nkauj Hli in and married her, but they decided to tell everyone that is is a mute. Chu Yee’s mother disliked Nkauj Hli so she finds every way to kick Nkauj Hli out of the house.

Dude, i was just watching this movie last weekend. Love Cua Yaj back than. Too bad she stopped singing. Her music are well sung and so meaningful!
I missed those days also, but it’s not totally gone for me since I can still play with Lee.
I can so relate to this song right now. It is too sad how I see this guy almost everyday yet our heart just remain silent even though we have feelings for each other.
