My Take On The Sy Lee and Kos Lis Concert

Posted on 07 July 2010

It sure does feel great to be back home again! But I have to be honestly, I am so very tired from this trip, as soon as I finish blogging I’ll call it a night, yes this early of the day. I really need to fully recover from this trip although I don’t remember doing anything so tiring during the trip, I think it’s the HOT and HUMID Georgia weather that is making me feel extra tired.

Okay so I did blog about Kos Lis and Sy Lee’s concert that was held on Friday July 2nd in Little Canada, Minnesota. Well As a huge fan of Kos Lis I decided to cancel a few plans so I can make it to this concert. I had to ditch my best friend’s birthday just to attend this concert, it was a once in a life time chance for me, I was truly excited and cannot wait to take a picture with Kos. Well we’ve arrived at the concert at about 8:15 pm, the concert was supposed to start at 8 pm. We found a unreserved table near the back (all the front tables were already reserved). We sat at our table for about 3 hours listening to a few singers sings their songs, a song per person, honestly the only enjoyable one was the song by Wave. Anyways, 3 hours into the concert they finally introduced Sy Lee to sing his first song, according to Sy himself, he said this was his first comeback since he last stopped singing. I have no idea who Sy Lee is, I’ve never heard any of his music before, or at least I do not pay attention to them.

After Sy Lee sang his first song, he announced that Kos Lis’ sponsor had a few announcements to make. Kos’ sponsor had announced that Kos will not be attending this concert as he never gotten on the plane, he had called his sponsor the day before the concert stating that his mother had been very sick and was unable to take the flight to Minnesota.

My cousin and I was very disappointing and not only us, but the many fans that came for Kos Lis was very disappointed as well. Honestly I wasn’t just disappointed, I was very angry with them. I know that Kos was very concern about his mother’s health and I respect that, but what I was angry about was that they never told us a thing about Kos not attending this concert until 3 hours into the concert. I wasted a good 3 hours sitting bored to the bone, annoyed at the table in front of us making fools of themselves while I waited for Kos Lis to appear on stage only I and his fans who attended was left disappointed. I honestly thought they should had let us know when we entered the building and they should had offered a refund of some sort who rather just have a refund than sit at the concert knowing that Kos will not attended.

There goes my hopes to finally meet Kos Lis!!

I only stayed at the concert for 3 hours, it didn’t end until 1 am, we left the concert at 11pm and went to Epic to celebrate my best friend’s birthday instead of dreading the whole night at the concert. The table in front of me was getting on my nerves, they were inconsiderate, the girls were extremely loud talking about getting drunk and trying to take shots and also taking photos. I thought they were not only rude, but they were making fools of themselves, these were ladies that were about 35ish years old. I was at the verge of going up to their table and tell them to hush up, we did not care about them wanting to get drunk and who can take what shots and scream off the top of their lungs, but we wanted to enjoy the concert and be able to hear the singers sing, but we left the concert instead.

The table I was sitting at, the guys that came join us at our table were 3 guys who was in the Hmong entertainment business. One guy was Kwm Lis, the famous Hmong actor, who I absolutely hate. Well I do not hate him, I just don’t think he can act and he isn’t my favorite actor. He used to live in either Thai or Laos but now resides in the US. I think he has a staring issue, the whole 3 hours I was there after they joined our table he kept staring at me as if he had never seen a girl before, I was truly uncomfortable. Another guy who sat at our table was his friend, I don’t remember his name, but he also played in Hmong movies. I believe he did played a movie with Kwm Lis before. The last guy was I believe the owner of Modern Jungle Art Production or whatever their production name was. That guy too had staring issue, he kept staring at me the whole night through (while I was there). He even camcorded me which I thought was a bit freaky.

Sy Lee did a great job, at least for the 2 songs we stayed to hear him sing. We left after they announced that Kos Lis will not attend the concert. Again, I was left very disappointed!

So this is my sad note and disappointment of my trip, tomorrow I’ll blog more about my trip, the goods, the bad and the ugly.

Again I am glad to be home!! Now I am going to call it a night and sleep super early so I can recover from this trip! Sorry about my ranting, I am just too disappointed!

Hi. I enjoyed reading your blog. It’s so nice to find a Hmong blogger – you’re the first I encountered. :)

Anyway, I was in MN too, but I didn’t get the opportunity to see any concerts this year. Sorry that your concerts didn’t pan out so well. Maybe next time.

I wonder how many people asked for a refund and how many were denied. It amazes me how the organizers hid the fact that the star of the concert wasn’t going to be there. It just shows how shameless and greedy they are in taking people’s money without the simple consideration for Kos’ fans.

lol, that’s why I’ve given up on Hmong concerts. They are utterly unorganized, the crowd can be incredibly rude and when sponsors or any other hmong OGs talk on stage, they tend to talk forever.

oh wow moze, that was a big dissappointment. They should have told it to everybody that Kos Lis will not be there. OMG, I would be VERY MAD.

hahahaha you don’t know Sy Lee? He’s my cousin. He debuted back in the 90 and retired in the 99 [MAYBE]. He also got sued by other people because of all his india song that he copied. Now, he’s back.

Kwm Lis is my uncle too. Yes, Sy Lee and Kwm Lis are related too. Hhahahahha, you don’t like my uncle Kwm? I have to say the same thing too. I used to like him but now I dislike him. I don’t hate him but I dislike him.
