Firefly Season Again!
Posted on 03 June 2010
Yes I cannot believe it, it’s firefly season again! I love driving home right before dusk to see beautiful lights flickering along the road. This is one reason why I love June so much. Fireflies are always out flashing their lights during this time of year. I spotted my first firefly this year yesterday while cooking egg rolls on the front porch last night (I am a super Hmong, I cook on a propane gas stove outside if I am cooking something a bit difficult to cook inside).
I failed to capture a firefly on camera, but I am determine to do so! I will find the time and location with lots of fireflies and hopefully have a long exposure to capture some fireflies. I seriously love fireflies therefore I really want to capture them on camera. Last year I went out with a friend of mine, we did some shootings and tried to capture some fireflies, but it was an epic failure. This year, I’ll find the time and give it another attempt. This time, I will try to bring a tripod and use a long exposure in hope to capture at least their flashing lights. Now, the question is, when and where?? I hope to answer those questions soon!!
I find that the flashing lights of the fireflies can be very soothing. It really calms my soul. Every kid wants to catch fireflies and put them in a jar, I know when I was younger, I love doing so, only I let them go, but to be honestly, I am horrible at catching them so I hardly ever catch any. But now that I am much older I want to catch them with my camera! Let’s hope I can!!!

I saw some while I was watering my garden yesterday. It must be very difficult to capture them since they fly, flash on and off. Must be real pretty in picture.
I agree! Just the other day, i didn’t realize fireflies were out when i was putting my puppy to bed. I can’t remember the last time that i actually went out and caught some. they are beautifuL!
[...] was inspired by Mozemoua of her determination to capture Fireflies in her photo, and I don’t have much luck either. [...]
