My Parents Hard At Work, Farming
Posted on 18 May 2010
Here is a response to Nye Noona’s post regarding her father’s garden. Over at my parent’s farm, they do not just have 2 chicken farm houses, but they too have a few acres of farmland in their back yard. I am unsure of how many acres there are of farm land that they are doing, but I do know that it’s huge. They sectioned their farmland into a few groups. I didn’t get the chance (or more like I was too lazy) to walk around the entire farm to photograph all their crops. I just walked out to the closes areas of crops they have. Right in their backyard are their peach trees which had already started to fruit, but still too small to eat. After the few peach trees. My dad has a small greenhouse, but there is nothing there now since they transfer everything from the greenhouse to the farmland already.
Again, I didn’t get the chance (too lazy) to walk the whole farmland so my little cousin Athena and I only walked to the sprouting green beans, string beans and pumpkin areas.
If we were to walk farther into the farm and onto the other side of the farm, my parents grows a lot of the Chinese Broccoli, Bok Choi, mustard green, eggplants, Thai eggplants, bittermelon, okra, mint, basil, lemon grass, and a whole lot of other things. Next time when I go over to my parents place, I promise I’ll leave my laziness at home and walk around the entire farm to photograph them for you all.

I forgot what my parents grew in the foreground of the picture, but I do know that the back of the pictures are green bean and string beans, those long sticks are there to hold the beans when they grow.

These are their Asian pumpkins and Asian cucumber, If I was to walk to the back of the farmland, there would had been a whole lot more of these Asian pumpkins and Asian cucumber. Off to the side of the picture are garlic that they grow

My dad putting strings along the long sticks to hold the green bean and string beans up once they start to sprout and climb on the strings. My dad was actually showing my little cousin Athena how to do it, she was really into it, she even helped my mom farm after watching my dad.

Here is my mom farming, shes’ actually taking the weed out so the green beans and string beans will have room to grow.
I took these pictures on Mother’s day, the green beans are doing well because just this week my mom already gave us a bunch of green beans!

What? String beans already? You know I would love to live in a farm like your parents’, maybe they would adopt me and I would even help out with the gardening.
I wouldn’t be too lazy to walk down to take picture of the rest of the farm either.
What you captured are beautiful, especially the last photo of your mom gardening, thanks for sharing.
Nye, so I was wrong, no string beans yet, but soon. Maybe my parents can adopt you so you can help them around the farm. I don’t know how my parents can manage the farm and also their chicken farm all at once. I know I shouldn’t be so lazy, but when it’s really hot, I get extremely lazy and I am already lazy to begin with.
Thank, I tried to capture my parents as much as I can because I hardly have the chance to photograph my parents.
