Getting Down and Dirty

Posted on 04 April 2010

It was a beautiful Easter Sunday today so I made my day useful. Earlier this week I had brought my Plumerias out so they can get some sun and because I didn’t give them a bigger home last year they didn’t grow much, so with that being said, today, I had stop by walmart (because Home Depot was close for the Easter Sunday), I got some soil and new pots for them; huge new pots. I had also brought my Orchids from work home to repot as well. I had my Orchids for two years now, last year they didn’t bloom, I realized they didn’t bloom because they were in the office with no sun and in a very small pot, so this year, I decided to bring it home, repot it and give it some sun, lets hope I get some blooms this year.

As for my Plumeria’s they may be a little too young for any blooms this year, but I did gave them a bigger home so lets hope they will have a lot more growth this year than last year. I am hoping for a few blooms, if I am lucky enough. I cannot wait to enjoy my plumerias when it finally blooms! Maybe it’ll grow big enough and branches a lot so I can make a few cuttings of it, but for now, I’ll take very good care of them.

Besides repoting my plans I had also started on a project I had been wanting to start but never got to it. I had finally clean out the area in front of the house so I can plant some flowers along the house, lets see how long it’ll take me to do this project and if it’ll ever get completed. I am hoping to finish cleaning the area and hope to go to Home Depot sometimes this week or next week to purchase some flowers. Any suggestions on what type of flowers I should get?

I am also looking into getting some plant collections and a few more orchids.

After all this hard work, I tried doing some homework and fell asleep on the hammock, then I put my text book away and had a really good nap on the hammock as I enjoy the nice awesome spring wind right outside of my patio. Oh how I love living in the south!

Below are the soil, pots and plants that I was working on

My Orchid repoting stuff, I believe my orchid is very very happy now, I am going to go purchase some more orchids so this orchid wont be so lonely, beside I love orchids!

The stuff to repot my plumerias, you see how small the original pots are, yes as bad as I am I should had repot them as soon as I bought them!

I had to run back to walmart to get bigger pots, the ones I originally bought was 15 inch, I thought they were too small so I went back to walmart to get bigger pots, now they are 20 inches. These new ones looks much better, now my plumerias are sitting in much bigger pots and have lots of room to grow and dance all they want! If they grow enough I’ll give them a bigger home next year in hopes that my dad will build me a green house this coming fall for my plants.

Hey! The weather looks super nice out there! Wish we had the sunshine here too. It’s been gloomy over here these last few days. Can’t wait for permanent sunshine so I can get started on my outdoor iguana enclosure. I’m thinking I might plant some live exoctic plants in the enclosure too. Wish me luck! hehehee.. ^_^

I need to repot my orchid also, it has been 2 years since it has a bloom. Your new pots look nice, I hope to see your Plumeria bloom soon.

We’ve been having some nice weather here also, I bought some marigold for Lee to plant, but she got distracted and I ended up doing all the work myself.
