I want to give a full album review on Ciaj Sia’s latest album entitled “Tus Kuv Nrhiav”. I don’t know if I like or dislike this album, I am still deciding on it, but I think I am leaning towards not liking this album. I like his concept of this album but I just hate all the effect he had used on majority of the songs. I don’t know about everyone else, but I am not a fan of effects when it comes to music, maybe an effect here or there, I may not mind, but if the majority of the songs have effects, I honestly think they are using the effects to cover up the flaws.

I actually like how some songs he had used traditional Hmong poetry type style for the songs, but then again the effects just killed the songs, it really pushes me away from wanting to listen to the songs and it makes it very hard to hear his words. I can say that this album is very different from the everyday Hmong music; it seems like he had a great idea for this album but he just didn’t execute it correctly.

I cannot decide whether I like this album more or all his other albums because this is actually the first FULL album I had FINALLY decided to listen to, as for his other two albums and the flute album, I had only heard some songs here and there. I think Ciaj Sia Lis has a very good voice, but I honestly feel as if he is trying a bit too hard to get out there and ruins what can be great for him. He does have great potential in the HMONG MUSIC industry but I think he should just relax and not try to push himself too hard. Do what he can and not force himself to try to do something he cannot, such as his movie, a review will be up for his movie soon when I force myself to finish it; I couldn’t get pass the first part, honestly it was the first 15 minutes.

Back to the album review… so with all that being said… I had compiled a clip of small clips of every single song from the album together for a demo for everyone to listen to. You may find that you’ll like or dislike the album; I know it’s a long demo but I had to fit all the songs into this demo, there are a total of 14 songs from the album.

Hrrm, I think his album isn’t all that bad. When he uses the effect, i think it matches his beat and his melody that he goes with it. Althoug i do have a hard tiem trying to hear what he’s trying to say though, like his pronociation in hmong words are a bit hard to understand.

Geeze moze mas, haha, i thought he did pretty good. One thing that i have to say is that, seems like all his melodies that he has are some what the same, that i do’nt like much. :D

I’m not a fan of Rap and Hip-Hop songs but I can see why he adds it to his music, to attract younger crowd…I think you’re getting old. ;)
