advance portraiture assignment#1:animals
Posted on 07 October 2009
On Tuesday October 6, our very first Advance Portraiture class assignments was to shoot animals, and boy, everyone knows I am scared of animals, especially dogs, well, my animal I had to shot was my brother and my nyab’s 8 month old Blue Pit Bull by the name of “Jo-Ja” (lol yes for Georgia). Everyone in the class seems to think Jo-Ja was the most precious puppy they had ever seen, I on the other hand was as far away from her as I can. I had my nyab and my sister Hlee help keep Jo-Ja stable and what not, while my teacher every now and then and few of my classmate gets her to stay focus and look at me.
It was a fun experiment and I must say I had a good time despite all the different animals (dogs, cats, rats, turtles, birds, rabbits and etc) we had in the building. We had about 5-6 different rooms set up for different animals and sizes. These are few of the shots I did, there are more, but I am too lazy to share them all, honestly few of them look almost the same. We just shoot, shoot, shoot until we get enough frames because animals are very hard to shoot especially in a studio. It’s hard to get them to stay focus and what not. But for now, enjoy what I got!!!
Once I get my final print picked, I’ll show you guys the final one, these are just to show, I am still waiting for my teacher to look at my contact sheet so I can pick a final picture and make the final prints.

awww… look at her.. she’s sooo cute.. you did some very nice shot here moze.
You chicken! Haha, told you to take photos of my dog doing tricks, hehe. My dog stays still when told to for treats
Jo-Ja looks all stressed out, and you didn’t capture any smile. Is she a playful pup? She must have sensed that you’re afraid of her.
Nicki, I will learn how to take away my fear and ummmmmm try to take photos of your dog for you! LOL
Hlee.. thanks for bringing Jo-Ja to my school for me!!
