sweet sticky rice with chinese sausage wrapped in banana leaves
Posted on 03 September 2009
as you can tell when I am home with nothing to do and when I am not so lazy I do rather enjoy occupying the kitchen.. So yesterday I made sticky rice with mango in coconut milk dessert so while I was at it, I decided to also make some sweet sticky rice with chinese sausage wrapped in banana leaves… yummm it sure was good!!!!
almost everything about it is the same.. but since this is a whole new post I’ll go over with it again. ahaha

let the sticky rice sit in water for at least an hour

depending on how many rice you are doing, put coconut milk and add the same amout of water into the rice

mix well then let it sit for about an hour or so.. mix every now and then

coconut milk I had used

these are the chinese sausage I had used

prepared the chinese sausage

cook the rice with sugar and also includ the coconut milk as well in the pot. once the coconut evaporate its ready for the next step

the banana leaves I used, you can use foil paper too, but I rather use banana leaves.. theres a taste difference. Dont forget to wash the banana leaves clean.. then cut it into small sizes, big enough to just wrap

spread the rice on the banana leaves then put the cut chinese sausage in the rice

then wrap and tie it with a string..

once you have enough, steam it

it should be steamed for about 10-15 minutes
and the finish product….
…….TAAAAADAAAAAAAA……..

unwrap it and this is how it looks like.. it has a green tent to it because of the banana leaf

and the chinese sausage is in side of it.. yummy!!!

Ze, you are awesome. I don’t know how to make these dishes. Thanks for the picture tutorial. It helps! I may make some this weekend!!!
I haven’t have sweet sticky rice with Chinese sausage wrapped in banana leaves but I have tried sticky rice with banana and mango before. However, by looking at the many pictures you posted on this blog. I’m feel hungry.
Damned. This look good. I don’t think anyone is going to believe it when you say you can’t cook. ^_^
You made this look so simple, I need to give this a try, looks yummy. Did you know that you can freeze these and microwave it when you’re ready to eat, would be good with coffee in the morning. Also good to stock up when you’re back in school and don’t have time to cook.
Thanks so very much for the illustrations….Awesome!
Debbie B, you’re very welcome! happy cooking!
