Night Photography In Atlanta Georgia
Posted on 04 May 2009
Here is some night photography I did at the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta Georgia. My two friends and I went to Atlanta to shoot for my mix-tone assignment and we ended up staying in Atlanta til night fall so I can also shoot for my night photography assignment. Thought I would share them.
Truth be told these are horrible! I didn’t have a cable release at the time of this photo session so I had a lot of camera shakes. Good thing cos on Monday I went to purchase a cable release, I’ve yet to try it, but when I do, I’ll be sure to share them again.
If you look carefully you can tell I have some camera shakes in some of the images.
I know with some it’s really dark, I should had let the shutter go longer but I didnt. blah.
Whew, I went to Atlanta TWICE in one month. That’s something new!
straight out of the camera as is.

Atlanta looks real pretty at night. My camera doesn’t do too good at night either, I think it’s because I don’t have enough lighting, only have the one that came with the camera. To me, your images are very clear, I like the second picture (bench), and fourth picture the best.
GINGER–you did said you use a Canon right? Sorry I forgot what model you said you used. Night photography is very simple, you can do it with your camera I promise. All you need to do is set your camera on Menual mode and change your ISO to maybe about 800 or if you want you can go higher to 1600 (but when your ISO is too high your image will have lots of noise). then all you need to do is set your camera on a tripod and best to have a cable release so your shot wont have any camera movements. set your F stop and your shutter speed to the correct setting and you can start shooting. Generally depending on how dark of an area you are at, the shutter speed would be around 3 seconds to a minute or two.
Got questions feel free to ask okay.
Ginger, it’s very simple. All you need to do is watch your shutter speed and be able to adjust your shutter speed and your Fstop.
Ze what camera you using? is cable release work the same as a remote control for you camera?
I’ve a Canon XTi, I need to learn how to shoot with a Manual mode, I think I’m spoiled with the Auto Mode, thanks for the tip, I need to give it a try.
Tong, I am currectly using a Canon Rebel XSi. I love the camera, but I want the Canon 50D, but too bad I can’t afford it. ahaha. I guess I just need to invest in some new lens and I should be good.
Cable release is just like a camera remote control/wireless cable release which I need to go get myself one. I don’t like my cable release cause it’s only 3 feet.
