ATL tea party protest on 04.15.09
Posted on 19 April 2009
On April 15th 2009, just this Wednesday, here in Georgia there was the Atlanta Tea Party protest, one of the biggest protest alongside the protest in Sacramento, myself and two other classmates took the Marta train to downtown Atlanta to photography this protest (this was my first time ever to take a city train, actually all train besides the underground train at the ATL airport). When we got there we met Janis one of the upper quarter photography student at our school, we then met Jennie a flex A classmate.
Anyways, we drove to the Doraville Marta train station and parked Lisa’s cars there then took the train to Five Point and then switch train to the Georgia State train station and got off, walked two blocks to the capital and photography the protest. Getting to the capital wasn’t so busy, they train was pretty much empty, well until we reached Five Point, but when we took the train home, it was so busy that we had to wait for the next train and even it was full.
It was super windy that night, but good thing I had mu jacket with me, not just that but as short as I am, I was protected from the wind by all the tall people around me. LOL. I between the three of us I was the only one who got close to the front stage of this protest. I swear, the closer I got to the front stage the ruder and meaner people got. I don’t know about my two partners, but I went to the protest as a neutral person who isn’t going for or against this protest. I went as a photojournalist, just snap the pictures and get the hell out of there.
A big rule of thumb for all photojournalist is that any photo they took for photojournalist SHOULD NOT BE EDIT IN PHOTOSHOP OR ANY OTHER PROGRAM. ALL IMAGES SHOULD LOOK AS SHOOT, IT SHOULD NOT BE MANIPULATED IN ANY WAY WHAT SO EVER!!! All images are straight out from the camera and are not photshopped besides my name, title and date. Picture of the time of night, I had to shoot them in the JPG file form…
photojounalism isn’t my thing!!!

us waiting for the train at Five Point, our first and only stop that we had to change trains

we got off from the Georgia State train station and this was the first thing I saw, well notice, it was the capital.

And to think they all could have voted for Ron Paul (who wanted to abolish the Fed). Sweet irony.
Seems like an interesting event. When you said photos can’t be edited, can you fix the red eyes, or make the image lighter if it’s too dark? I wonder if the rule is for those that photoshop image such as editing the image by combining or taking things out, or even change the background.
Thanks for the post and pics. My hubby wanted to go but didn’t cause he heard it was packed by the time he got off work.
Ginger—I believe you can edit the red eyes and make the image a bit lighter or darker is okay, but if one is done too much it’ll be a problem. My teacher said that there was an issue about this when OJ was in court about murdering his wife and Times Magazine had darken his picture which made him look sinister, which caused alot of issue.
NICKI–what time did he get off? I didn’t leave my school until almost 7pm. We went to Doraville and parked the car at the Marta station and took the train, or we’ll never make it.
