Daim Nplooj Qhua

Posted on 06 April 2009

So I heard of this song “Daim Nplooj Qhua” “a dried leaf” from browsing through youtube, but when I heard of this song, it was a cover by a Hmong girl, I fell in love with the song instantly. She did such a great job covering the song and brought so much strength to the song. I finally found the original song browsing on Imeem, I didn’t like it as much as I liked the cover one, but I must say the song has such a strong and beautiful meaning to it.

Thanks to CIAN of HMB for the Hmong lyrics.

02 – Daim Nplooj Qhua.MP3

Artist: Skyline
Song: “Daim Nplooj Qhua” (a dried leaf)
Album: Paub LI Hnub Ntawv (If I knew that day)

Have I ever told you that I love you so?
I gave you all my heart and soul
You’re my only destiny …

Cas ib ntsais muag xwb koj twb ploj ntawm kuv
Why did you leave me within a blink of an eye?
Yam daim nplooj qhua cua tshuab ces nws
Like a dried leaf that’s been blown away
Yav ploj ntawm kuv lub neej no …
Far from my life

Cas hnub no koj hos tuaj txog ntawm no
Why are you here today
Kua muag ntws si tsis muaj tus so
In that teary eyes that could not be wiped away
Puas yog nws ua koj nyuaj siab …
Did he distressed you

Kuv twb hais tias kom tsis txhob ua siab hlob
I did said for you to not have so many feelings
Tsam muaj ib hnub koj kua muag los
Or one day your tears will fall endlessly
Ces hnub ntawm koj yuav nco kuv …
And that day you’ll miss me

Tig los ntawm no kuv … mam li so koj lub kua muag
Turn over here, I’ll…wipe away your tears
Muab koj txoj kev nyuaj siab nws tso pob tseg
I’ll push away your distress
Kuv mam li zam txim rau koj
I’ll forgive you

Txawm koj los hauv kuv lub neej
I’ll welcome you back into my life
Kuv mam ua tas puas tsav yam
I’ll do all that I can
Tsis pub koj lub kua muag los … Ohhhhh
And won’t let your tears fall… ohhhh

[Instrumental Break]

I like the song, and his voice, sounds like a Chinese song to me. Is there a similarity between Hmong and Chinese language, do you know?

  • Jennifer says:

    Hey Mozemoua,
I was wondering if you can send me this song?

Ginger—No there is actually n o similarity between the Hmong and Chineses languages. WE have more similarity to THai and Laos words than we do with Chinese.

Jennifer–I’ll get to it once I get the chance. I’ve been a bit behind.

whats the other song in the movie

    • mozemoua says:

CHane, If you are talking about the movie “txiv nplooj siab” the other song in that movie is called “ib zaug ntxiv” also by Skyline and then there is another one, I am not to sure who it’s by, but I believe it’s by Maiv Ker Lauj and I am unsure of the title of the song. HOpe this helps.

Um, i think i’ll have to disagree with you mozemoua about the whole no similiarity. IF you really think about it and really take your time to understand chinese, you will say there are more similiarity in the words we used. As for the whole laos and thai, we just use their words, it’s not our actual words. Like airplane, one will say, nyob hoov, hoever you spell it, but for the actual hmong word, it’s pib tshav dav hlao.

Like i said, we just use their words, when really it’s not even the hmong word. Now with chinese, our hmong words are similiar to chinese words.
