Hey, most the pictures look great. Mind a little criticism?

The dog shots are cute but I don’t think they work for me, especially those of the dogs behind the cage. These seem to focus on the fence more than on the dog(s). I think it would be a better shot if the fences were actually blur out showing the dog in the background.

I really like some of your winter shots below(more of the most recent ones than the later ones). I mean the close up ones with the branches covered in show and ice and the one shot of some branches in the rain.

The lamp in the dark was also very interesting. It clearly draws the viewer to the object. Although, I think it’s too dead center. Maybe you can crop it so that it’s not so dead center.

Most of the other pictures in your earlier posts look nice but I think you shouldn’t put up too many because then it started to look like you’re shots are “lucky” because by number you actually increase your chance of actually having a great shot. Rather, just put up one or two so that people would actually believe that you’ve got the “photography’s eye”.

btw…what type of camera did you use and also what program are you using to edit your photos?

I’m currently taking a class in digital foundation and have taken a few pictures (with editing) and have uploaded them onto flikr. here is the link check out my photos:

HEY ~v, i personally thought moze did a fantastic job on taking the pictures of king khan. About the fence, i think she doesn’t need to do any bluring on them. They were very focus on the fence, but also the dog. So you can see both.
The light pole, she do not need to do any cropping. It is perfect the way it is taken.

Last but not least, as you can tell ze have her own style of taking pictures. Not all photographers will have the same way of taking them. Here is a little quote that i like. Maybe you’ll understand the meaning of photograpghy.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” [Aaron Siskind]

    Hleemoua,

I agree with the first sentence of the quote; however, in today’s advancing technology, what you can do in digital filming or photography is not the same as what you can do with 35mm camera and filming (indeed, in those times, what you got is what you have and nothing can be done to change it. I’m not stating that she should not do what she please with her camera or that she has to do what I’ve suggested.

Don’t get defensive about my criticisms or my defense below (they’re not meant change her view, just different ideas about photography)…I assumed you might be a family member or a close friend. I’m also a friend to Ze.

In the world of photography there is a difference between just taking pictures and having the eyes and skills of a photographer. Although not every photographer is the same and they shouldn’t be, many do use similar techniques, which is the core of my argument here.

When photographer take picture, to a typical person, the shot might look random and un-composed. But to the photographer, most photos are compose or they’ll lost that shot. In the case of the dog in the cage, the critical viewer will look at the photo and ask, what is the focus of this shot? Is it the dog, is it the fence? If it is the dog, then why is the fence so much more in focus? If it is on the fence, then why is the dog also in focus? But a cool technique would be to compose a picture that has a clear image of what you are trying to shoot; that being said, blur the fence to focus on the dog vice versa or have the entire picture in focus and not one or the other. In photography, you don’t want to be dead center; thus, good photography often use the power of third – this is because human eyes will lose focus of the picture if it is in the middle and have lots of space around it because the eyes tend to wonder for other objects in the picture.

~v, hey via! how are you doing? well thanks so much for your constructive critcisim, that is one way for someone to learn as well. I do know the rule of thrid and what not, but ther are some images that are just better being center, although some do not work at all. For the ligthpole in my night photography post, that one I did it on purpose for it was only a test shot, I had never done night photography before and decided that I should give it a try. AS for putting up the amount of images that I put up, as a leaner, I like to shoot in groups and like to keep them together. I actualy thought differently when it comes to the “lucky” images. I thought the more you show, it means you actualy know what you are doing rather than showing a few which mightmean you don’t have any other good ones. I know we all have our own view, but yours is very reasonable as well. THe dog shots were for my brother and I did it fast b/c I’ve been out in the cold for a while. I wanted to showed that the dog was inside a cage thus I should both in focus. I am a big user of the rule of thirds, most of my pictures are on it’s third, I somehow just like it better. Via once again, thanks for your constructive criticism, it’ll help me in the long run, that is how we all learn. Hlee is actually my sister, shes given me enough contructive criticims thus she is one of the many people who had helped my eyes and my photography, and as well she also has an eye for photography. I’ll go check your images out!!!

GINGER—my brother let him out in the snow and he sure did loved it. I was scared so i had to stay my distance, thank goodness to the zoom lens I was able to stay far away from him. ahahaha
