I bought this album back during the Thanksgiving weekend when I was up in North Carolina for the Hmong New Year that I drove 4 hours to, but only attended for 30 or so minutes due to the terrible weather and muddy location. Boy must I say this album made up for the long drive and the terrible weather. My day was bummed out until I opened up this album in my car on our way home when all my passengers feel asleep, since I was the only person who listens to Hmong music by the time we got home, my passengers commented on how wonderful his voice and his songs were.

I must say, this is Kos’ best album yet. I love just about every single song listed on the album and his voice is touching and beautiful as always and all the lyrics has its strong and powerful meaning to it as well.. Each time I open up his music I feel deeper in love with his strong and beautiful voice. To me I believe he is one of the top Hmong vocalists of all time, his powerful and beautiful yet manly voice makes his music whatever he chooses to sing a wonderful song.

In this album all the songs are so touching whether it is a happy go lucky song or a sad and emotional song, he sang it so perfect that it just touches your heart as if he is singing it from experience, whether he is or not I may not know, but I do know that each songs lures me in and feels his pain of the music or the wonderful and happiness of his voice.

From one of my Kos Lis’ song translation post, I had stated that I just wish he would sing more of Hmong influence songs and let loose of the whole India feel and my wish has been granted. In this album, he does not have any India influence and feel to any of the songs, well maybe one, it has a hint of India influence but not a lot and yet it was still enough to say it wasn’t very much influenced.

I will try to do some of his song translation when I have the chance and when I am able to find some lyrics since my Hmong writing is terrible while my reading isn’t so bad. I know weird right. I’ll also try to stream couple of songs once I learn how to.  I will stream some songs and also translate them with lyrics once I am able to change the song format from WMA to MP3. It’s not hard, I just have to find time to do so. It should be sometimes this week when I can go ahead and stream a song or two with translation and lyrics.

After I finished reading your post, I went looking for him on youtube, he has a nice voice. I didn’t think I would like him that much.
