Do Not Point At The Moon

Posted on 02 November 2008

As a child we had always known not to point at the moon because if we do, our ear will be cut by the moon while we are sleeping. I had always believed in this as a child and even now in my early to mid 20’s I am still a believer and still refused to point at the moon. If we somehow end up pointing at the moon we must spit on our fingers and rub it in the back of our ears and tell the moon not to give us a cut behind our ears.  I don’t know if it’s just a coincident or if it’s true, but it has happened many times before to myself thus I had become a believer as a child and notice a lot of Hmong kids had also believe in this.

  • I’ve never heard of this one… but my mom tells me to never whistle at night or cut my fingernails at night. The ghost will come out if you do!

haha, we’re so LAO, I’ve heard of those. Heck, my grandmother yells at me if she sees me cutting my fingernails on Tuesday or maybe Thursday. Can you believe we are designated days to cut our fingernails? I usually don’t follow it. I cut it when I want too, even at night. I was hoping to see ghosts, but they’ve never appeared. I whistle at night too. Nothing appears.

pointing at the moon thing, I’ve never heard of that.

I’ve never had a reason to point at the moon, but I think I might have to try it when it’s FULL.
